I currently use this headlight for my mountain bike. It is very well built and extremely bright. Secondly, in the flashing mode, it is excellent on battery life. The only thing I do not like about the device is the mounting hardware. The body of the light has excellent craftsmanship but the mounting strap can be easily broken during a spill. This is my second unit due to a crash over the summer. Overall, I would recommend the product even with that one short coming.

This light is very nice and bright and slim/aerodynamic/easy to carry in your pocket.

HOWEVER, the way it slides backwards on to your front handlebars is NOT secure. When I rode through some bumps, it falls off quite frequently. Finally, the front part cracked, and now the batteries can't stay in very well so I've had to tape it shut.

For something so expensive, they should've engineered a better locking system to keep it in place.

--EDIT (Nov/12/2010):

I originally got this as a set (both front light and backlight). I maintain everything I've said about the front light earlier. But as an aside, the backlight is very well designed and slides in sideways (perpendicular to the length of the bike) rather than in the same direction as the bike travels (as with the front light). This keeps the back light in more securely and after 1 year, I haven't had any problems. If only the front light had been designed the same way (they are both... Read more

A copy of an email I sent to Blackburn.

I recently purchased your Blackburn Voyager 3.3 Cycling Headlight at a local Sports Authority today and already ran into a few problems. After replacing a light from a previous company, I decided on your product, 24.99 seemed fair enough for a cool looking light that seemed to fit my purposes, as I commute to and from work, which I get off at night I need a reliable light that'll do the job and keep me safe. So not 10 minutes after I put on the bracket and mount the light I start riding and It comes FLYING off. I stop my bike and think, okay maybe I didn't mount it right. Sure enough all seemed fine, (you'd have to be an idiot to put it on wrong mind you) it was screwed in all the way and only moved a bit. Fast forward to about an hour ago I am riding home and it flies off again! I hit the slightest of bump, I barely even noticed it, just that the light is bouncing into incoming traffic. So I think to myself, okay this is a bad... Read more
