I wanted an All-in-one design which required no wires or external batteries and a good run time. I emailed CygoLite to ask about the LED Output (Lumens) Low-Brightness specs (Run Time 6 hours) since the High-Brightness Run Time is only 3 hours and I needed more Run Time but with decent Brightness. They didn't answer me and got all paranoid about it, competition is tough it seems (NiteRider just came out with a VERY similar... For several years, I had a very servicable Planet Bike Alias 10W (with a 15W bulb in it). It was bright enough but the NiMH battery was starting to go, and there were no replacement batteries anymore; so I checked out this light deeply discounted at PerformanceBike.com, and I ordered it. I am very impressed. First, it's an all-in-one light with an on-board, modular, replaceable, inexpensive, and light-weight Li-ion rechargable battery. It can be recharged in a USB computer port (cable included) or wall-plug adapter (included, too). It charges fast and lasts on high beam for a long time. It has several brightness levels, and a nice fashing mode (even an S-O-S signal, if anyone remembers Morse Code besides me!). I've tried it on my handle-bar (easy to fit) and on my helmet (also relatively easy with some experimentation as to placement and interpretation of misleading directions in the manual)... Not only is it small but it's wicked bright! The light gives a clear view of what's ahead and drivers steer clear when it's in flash mode. I like the internal battery because I don't have to fuss with any cables and separate batteries. I haven't used the helmet bracket yet but I'm considering getting an Expilion 180 so I can use both when mountain biking. For the road this is plenty. |
